accountability: for self-liberation | June 2nd, 2024

from $0.00

For some of us, accountability is the action we wish others in our lives would take. For some of us, accountability is the dreaded step we want to avoid because we're afraid it will make us villains. For some of us, accountability is a much too heavy, but necessary bag we must unpack (even if we weren't the ones who did the initial packing) to move through our next destination. But for all of us, accountability can be a means to liberation & a tool for collective care.

In an intimate, small group setting, we'll investigate the impacts of accountability, how it applies in situations where we are & aren't the cause of consequences, & how it can support our desire to nurture ourselves & our communities.

Please note: This workshop is deeply reflective & requires us to look at accountability from a lens that we might not have before, & in a way that might be uncomfortable. I work hard to create spaces that are conducive to your overall well-being, but I also acknowledge the different emotional thresholds we may have. Please message me if you'd like to know more about the workshop to decipher if this is an appropriate gathering for you at this time. I'd be happy to let you know more about the topics we will be diving into to help you decide whether or not this workshop aligns.

*A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Congolese, Palestinian, and/or Sudanese humanitarian efforts.

More About What the Workshop Entails
This workshop will be divided into three parts. After defining accountability & self-liberation in the context of this workshop, we will focus on:

Part I: Understanding what accountability can look & feel like when we are directly responsible for the consequences we impose on others & ourselves, be them good, or be them not so good. We will explore themes like admitting when we are wrong, owning & avoiding our actions, & self-forgiveness while taking responsibility.

Part II: Investigating our connection with & understanding of accountability when we are not the cause of the consequences we must tend to. We'll likely spend a good amount of time here because... yes. In this portion of the workshop, we will challenge common perceptions of what accountability means, distinguish between taking blame versus taking accountability, & learn to adopt accountability as a tool of empowerment.

Part III: Open discussion & opportunity to share our personal stories & findings. This portion is optional & the time allotted for this portion is dependent upon the first two segments of the workshop.
